Testing methodology

How We Test Hardware in Your Browser

Every RatedTechTools test is designed around what a modern browser can measure reliably—and it labels the limits just as clearly.

Built on real browser signals

Our tools use standard browser APIs such as Keyboard Events, Pointer Events, MediaDevices, Web Audio, Fullscreen, Gamepad, Canvas, Screen, and requestAnimationFrame. A test only claims a result that the browser can actually observe.

Interactive checks run in your browser. Camera previews, microphone waveforms, keystrokes, pointer activity, controller input, and display patterns are not sent to RatedTechTools by the current tools.

How functionality is validated

We test the main path, stop and reset behavior, permission denial, missing-device states, repeated runs, narrow screens, keyboard navigation, and browser limitations. Production builds and code-quality checks are run before release.

  • Clear start, stop, and reset states
  • Useful guidance when permissions are blocked
  • No fake pass or fail result when the browser lacks evidence
  • Accessible labels, focus behavior, and readable contrast
  • Honest measurement notes for estimates such as FPS, latency, and pixel dimensions

What browser tests cannot prove

A web page cannot inspect every driver, cable, firmware setting, electrical fault, panel specification, or operating-system shortcut. Results are a practical first diagnostic pass, not a laboratory certification, safety inspection, or manufacturer warranty decision.

Corrections and updates

Browser capabilities change. If a result, compatibility note, or explanation appears wrong, send the tool name, browser, operating system, and reproducible steps to hello@ratedtechtools.com. We review corrections against browser behavior before updating a page.
