Common problems
- If channels are reversed, check cable routing and audio balance settings.
- Laptop speakers may not reproduce low bass or very high tones clearly.
- Bluetooth latency does not normally affect channel identification.
Privacy and browser limits
Most readings come directly from browser APIs and stay on your device. Operating systems, browser permissions, scaling, drivers, and hardware can affect what a page can observe.
For the cleanest result, use an up-to-date browser, keep the tab visible, and close apps that may already be using the device.
Questions about the speaker test
Is my test data uploaded?
No. This test runs locally in your browser. RatedTechTools does not receive or store the device data shown by the tool.
Are the sounds downloaded?
No. The Web Audio API generates all tones locally; no copyrighted audio is used.
Why can’t I hear 100 Hz or 8 kHz?
Small speakers, hearing range, equalization, and device volume can all affect audibility. This is not a clinical hearing test.
